Shackford Head State Park is an 87-acre public recreation area on Moose Island in Eastport, Maine, occupying a peninsula between Cobscook Bay and Broad Cove. Named for John Shackford, an American Revolutionary War soldier who once owned the property, it combines inland and coastal landscapes in a compact setting. Managed by the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, the park is used mainly for walking and shoreline access, with trails including Cony Beach Trail, Shackford Head Trail, and Schooner Trail through woods and along the shore. At Cony Beach, the site is also associated with five Civil War-era ships burned for salvage in the early 1900s.
