Alexander Blue was born in New York on February 25, 1817, to Daniel and Mary Blue. He bought 80 acres in Livonia Township in 1835 and married Catharine Blue; they had three children, Malcolm (1844), Daniel A. (1846), and Mary C. (1851). During his lifetime, Alexander held many township positions. He became Justice of the Peace in 1846 and held that position for 28 years. He also served as township supervisor for three years and as postmaster of Elm in 1879. His two-story Italianate farmhouse was built in the 1850's of clapboard with a stone foundation. It features a curvilinear cornice of verge board, or gable trim, along the eaves and porch columns, and the home originally had 11 rooms. The house was originally located on Middle Belt, north of Schoolcraft in Section 23, and now serves as the park office on the upper level and rental space on the lower level.
