Woody's Knob, or Charlie Woody Mountain, is a 4,170-foot summit in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina near Little Switzerland and Spruce Pine, ranking among the highest points in the local area and Mitchell County. Its top was documented by the North Carolina Geodetic Survey in 1982, and the summit is crowned by the Spruce Pine Lookout and Firetower, built in 1958 for the Forest Service's fire-detection network and now used for communications. Though the mountaintop has a heavily utilitarian character with towers and service facilities, it remains valued for sweeping 360-degree views, severe mountain weather, and habitats supporting diverse plants and wildlife.
