Adeline Carson Stilt, daughter of scout, guide, and explorer Kit Carson, was called “Prairie Flower” by her father and was considered his favorite child. She came with her husband to the gold site of “Mono Diggins” in about 1858 and died in the winter of 1859 at age 21 at the home of her friends, known as the Wilson Ranch.
