Methodist Mountain is an 11,713-foot peak in the northern Sangre de Cristo Range of the Rocky Mountains, about 5.5 miles south by west of Salida, Colorado. It lies on the drainage divide separating San Isabel National Forest and Chaffee County from Rio Grande National Forest and Saguache County. The summit is especially significant as the northernmost peak of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, a range that stretches south across Colorado toward Santa Fe, New Mexico. Its location marks the beginning of one of the Southwest’s longest and most distinctive mountain chains.
