Lake Fort Smith State Park is a 260-acre Arkansas park in the Boston Mountains centered on Lake Fort Smith. It began as a Fort Smith city park in the 1930s, was later developed through the Works Progress Administration as the Mountainburg Recreational Facility, and entered the state park system in 1967. The original park closed in 2002 when construction of a larger dam and spillway flooded the site. A new park reopened on May 21, 2008, about 4 miles north, with campsites, cabins, group lodging, picnic and boating facilities, a swimming pool, playground, and a large visitor center overlooking the lake and mountains.
