White Rock Wildlife Management Area is a vast protected tract in the Boston Mountains of northwest Arkansas within the Ozark National Forest. Designated in 1976, it covers about 280,000 acres, is owned by the U.S. Forest Service, and is managed by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. The Mulberry River and the lakes Shores, Horsehead, and Fort Smith shape a landscape used for fishing, hunting, trapping, canoeing, hiking, camping, swimming, picnicking, and wildlife observation. Supporting deer, wild turkeys, black bears, squirrels, and other fur-bearers, it is both major wildlife habitat and a large-scale public recreation area tied to the wider Ozark forest network.
