Flamingo Gardens in Davie, Florida, is a sixty-acre botanical garden and wildlife sanctuary that preserves a remnant of older South Florida landscape while showcasing tropical and subtropical plant diversity. Established in 1927 as the South Florida property of Floyd L. and Jane Wray, it began with a weekend home, citrus grove, laboratory, and a growing collection of rare plants from around the world. The site now includes more than 3,000 plant species, notable champion trees, historic house museum, and varied gardens and habitats. Its wildlife features native and exotic animals, including a large Everglades aviary organized around four native Florida ecosystems.
