Klipfel, formally the James H. Klipfel Memorial Nature Sanctuary at Brockway Mountain, is a 160-acre protected area near Copper Harbor on Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula. Maintained by the Michigan Nature Association along Brockway Mountain Drive, it preserves a small but distinctive part of the mountain landscape. Brockway Mountain’s alkaline bedrock outcrops, cliff faces, and ledges support habitat for a variety of unusual plants, giving the sanctuary ecological importance. Its overlook is also a notable vantage point for the spring hawk migration, when raptors often travel along the ridge.
