Pine Point Research Natural Area is a protected tract in northern Minnesota within Chippewa National Forest, established in 1932 and managed by the United States Forest Service. Covering 1,375 acres on land bordered by Leech Lake, it preserves a largely undisturbed pine forest dominated by jack pine and red pine, along with meadows, marsh, and a small inland lake. Its varied landscape includes 493 acres of marshland and supports wildlife such as white-tailed deer, black bear, snowshoe hare, and porcupine. In 1980 it was recognized as a National Natural Landmark for its exceptional natural character and as nesting habitat for bald eagles and ospreys.
