Lake Borgne Light stood in coastal Mississippi at the entrance to Lake Borgne on what is now Lighthouse Point east of Heron Bay. Built in 1889, it replaced an earlier light on shrinking St. Joseph's Island, which later vanished entirely. The lighthouse was constructed on a screwpile foundation in the marsh and reached by boardwalk, a design suited to the soft ground, and it used a fifth-order Fresnel lens to guide nearby traffic. A hurricane destroyed the house in 1906, but it was rebuilt. Deactivated in 1937 and later abandoned, the light is gone, while its remaining foundation survives as a charted hazard and a reminder of ongoing coastal erosion.
