The Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum in San Jose is devoted to ancient Egypt and is known for holding the largest collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities in the western United States. Rooted in Harvey Spencer Lewis’s collecting and in excavations at Tel el Amarna funded in 1921 with AMORC support, the collection was first opened to the public in 1928 and expanded after his 1929 tour of Egypt. The present Egyptian Revival complex opened in 1966 under Ralph Maxwell Lewis. Its notable features include a tomb replica, a planetarium, research projects, traveling exhibitions, and continuing educational and scientific work supported by AMORC.
