Jobs Peak, known in Northern Paiute as Wangikudak, rises in Alpine County, California, within the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, and stands out as the most prominent peak seen from Carson Valley across the state line in Douglas County, Nevada. A familiar feature of the eastern Sierra landscape, it serves both as a scenic backdrop and as a destination for hiking and backcountry skiing, with slopes that offer views toward Lake Tahoe. Its English name preserves the memory of Moses Job, who opened a store in nearby Sheridan, Nevada, in the early 1850s.
