The Grand View offers a spectacular and unique viewpoint over protected canyons, where the airspace is home to a diverse variety of birds. In the canyon bottoms, the oldest geologic units are dark metamorphic rocks. The cliffs and monoliths are made primarily of sandstones more than 200 million years old, including a 200 foot tall sandstone spire visible from the viewpoint.
