Mt. Moriah Cemetery is operated and maintained by the Union Township Trustees on land purchased in 1800 by Withamsville founder Maurice Witham. Buried here are prominent pioneers and citizens, including the Witham family, Indian fighter Richard Stockton, and State Representative Dr. William Doan (1832). The original cemetery has been enlarged to over 50 acres, and the vault was built in 1877, the iron fence in 1880, with additional iron fences erected in 2000.
