The holy sacrifice of the mass was first celebrated in 1882 in a mission chapel just east of this site. In 1883, Mary Queen of Heaven Parish was established and a church was erected on this site. In 1902, the present church was erected and blessed by the Bishop of Nesqually. In 1990, this church was placed on the National Register of Historical Buildings by the U.S. Department of the Interior.
