Hoodoo Ridge Lookout, in the Umatilla National Forest near Troy, Oregon, served the United States Forest Service as a wildfire detection watchpoint from its construction beginning in 1925 until the 1970s. The historic district preserves key elements of that remote working site, including a 1925 crow’s nest, a 1933 lookout tower, a 1933 cabin and garage, and an outhouse that may date from the same period. With three contributing buildings and two contributing structures, the site shows how forest fire detection operated in northeastern Oregon and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 26, 2015.
