In 1832, the Little Schuylkill Navigation Railroad & Coal Co. constructed this magnificent two-and-a-half story spacious brick home as part of a deal to entice Moncure Robinson, a civil engineer from Virginia, to lay out their proposed railroad from the Schuylkill Water Gap (Port Clinton) to the foot of Broad Mountain (Tamaqua) following the Little Schuylkill River. The home served as his home and office and as a post office as he became Port Clinton's first postmaster. It was later used as a grocery store and is currently renovated to original.
