Follett
History
1
Follett was a gateway to the Texas Panhandle's "Golden Spread." Founded as Ivanhoe on a site across the state line in Oklahoma, the town moved twice to locate on a railroad. It was situated here in 1917 and renamed for railroad surveyor Horace Follett. Its economy was based on wheat, cattle, grain sorghums, and, since the 1950's, oil and gas production.
