At a shallow pond 115 rods due south, Blackhawk's 700 Sac Indians encamped on July 31, 1832. Soldiers found six decrepit Indians there and left them behind. In 1846, Lee Sterling found a handfull of silver brooches there and concluded that those killed were squaws.
