Ridley Creek State Park in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, preserves a large cultural and natural landscape close to Philadelphia. Once home to the Lenni Lenape, the valley was later settled by English Quakers and remained largely agricultural for centuries. Its surviving historic sites include the 1683 Worrel House, Providence Mill, and the former industrial complex known as Sycamore Mills. Much of the land was assembled beginning around 1912 by Walter M. Jeffords Sr. and Sarah Jeffords, then acquired by Pennsylvania in the 1960s and opened to the public in 1972. Today it combines historic buildings, trails, fishing waters, a living-history farm, formal gardens, and preserved old-growth forest.
