American veterans, though separated by generations, shared a common goal of valiantly protecting the country’s freedom, and their memory lives on wherever democracy exists. The American veteran stands as a symbol of heroism, sacrifice, loyalty, and freedom. The memorial was dedicated on September 20, 2003. It also honors NASA astronaut and Parsippany native Dr. Garrett Reisman, who flew on two missions to the International Space Station, on March 11, 2008 aboard Space Station Endeavour and on May 14, 2010 aboard Space Station Atlantis, spending 107 days in space and performing 3 spacewalks.
