Houston Wing, based at West Houston Airport since its founding in June 1978, grew from a local Commemorative Air Force squadron into a public history organization centered on World War II military aviation. Operating from Hangar B-5, it preserves training and transport aircraft such as the C-60A Lodestar Goodtime Gal and several wartime trainers, while also restoring later aircraft and displaying engines and other artifacts. Its museum broadens the story beyond aircraft to include wartime life, the Women Airforce Service Pilots, and material from Germany, Japan, and the United States. It also serves as an educational and event venue with public programs and annual aviation-themed gatherings.
