Iron City’s original school was a log building with a dirt floor on Williams Street, and its first teacher was Miss Linnie Campbell. The first school building on this site housed grades one through eleven. In 1930, grades ten and eleven moved to Donalsonville, Georgia. This school burned June 15, 1931. A brick building for nine grades was constructed by autumn of 1931. In 1949, grades eight and nine went to Seminole County High School in Donalsonville, Georgia. Grades one through seven were taught here until the school closed in the spring of 1963 as all schools in the county consolidated. The Iron City Lions purchased this property in 1978, and the deed was transferred to the town of Iron City by the Iron City Lions Club in June 1990.
