Built by a pioneer family from the area in the early 1870's to house livestock, this barn originally stood 1500 feet east of its present site on land once part of the historic Bodega Rancho, known as Rancho Paridiso and later the site of the Moscow Mill. It is said President Ulysses S. Grant stabled his horses in the barn. In 1919, the Christian Brothers of California purchased the land and converted the hay loft into a chapel and the horse stalls into a recreation room for their retreats. By 1973, the unused and aging barn was offered to George Casini, who, because of his fond childhood memories of playing in it, moved it to its current location, renamed it Moscow Barn, and began its restoration and preservation. It is now used as a meeting and recreation hall.
