Built in 1910 as a brick garage for horse and carriage, this building was converted into a theater in 1917 for showing silent flickers. A new facade replicated the Spanish Mission Style architecture common to movie theatres in Hollywood, and it prospered as Berlin's movie house and only entertainment venue for 50 years. After the turbulent 60's, it went dark for a 20 year intermission until the Patton family revitalized and preserved its historic bones and repurposed it as a bistro, wine, gift, and book shop, art gallery, and cultural center, giving new life to Berlin as well. Two local couples took over in 2006, quickly adding a copper top bar and a newly outfitted kitchen that made it a popular gathering spot, and sole proprietor Jennifer Dawicki now continues its tradition as the heart of Berlin with food, drinks, brunches, live music, special events, and friendly people.
