Guy W. Talbot State Park in Oregon’s Columbia River Gorge, near Troutdale, is centered on Latourell Falls and stretches west toward the Crown Point State Scenic Corridor. The park began as the summer estate of Guy Webster Talbot, a prominent railroad and utility executive who came to Portland in 1906. In 1929, he donated 220 acres around the falls to the State of Oregon, transforming private land into public parkland. Its setting is closely linked to the Historic Columbia River Highway, including the Figure-Eight Loops near Crown Point, and the park reflects the interplay of scenic travel, private estates, and conservation in the gorge.
