Creamery Covered Bridge in West Brattleboro, Vermont, was built in 1879 of spruce using Ithiel Town’s patented Town lattice truss design. Formerly carrying Guilford Road over Whetstone Brook, it has been closed to traffic since 2010. The bridge is 80 feet long and includes a roadway and a sidewalk added around 1920, all sheltered by separate roofing and protected by vertical siding, with guy wires providing extra support. Resting on stone abutments, it is Brattleboro’s last surviving 19th-century covered bridge. Once one of many such bridges in town, it endures as a local landmark and a longtime tourist attraction visible from Route 9.
