Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary in Topsfield and Wenham, Massachusetts, is one of the Massachusetts Audubon Society’s largest protected areas, encompassing 1,955 acres of glacially shaped forests, meadows, swamps, vernal pools, drumlins, and eskers. About 12 miles of trails and 8 miles of the Ipswich River provide access for hiking and canoeing. Its Rockery Trail preserves part of the former arboretum at Bradstreet Farm, whose house now serves as the Audubon Visitor Center. Once known as the Proctor Wildlife Sanctuary and Annie H. Brown Reservation, the sanctuary today blends conservation, education, and recreation through camps, nature programs, and broad public access.
