Appleton Farms in Ipswich, Massachusetts, is a protected property owned and maintained by The Trustees of Reservations and ranks among the state's oldest continuously operating farms. Its history began in 1638, when Ipswich granted the land to Samuel Appleton, an immigrant from Little Waldingfield, England. Today the landscape includes about 4 miles of walking trails, and the adjacent Appleton Farms Grass Rides are also under the Trustees' care. After the property was deeded to the organization in 1998, a vegetable Community Supported Agriculture program was established there in 2002, extending the farm's long agricultural use into the present.
