Hangar #1 is a Mission Revival style building and a symbol of the early aviation industry in Southern California. It was built in 1929 and designed by Gable and Wyant, architects. It became Historic-Cultural Monument No. 44 when it was declared on November 16, 1966, by the City of Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Commission and Cultural Affairs Department.
