First Baptist Church, designated a City of Homestead Historic Landmark, was constructed in 1944 to replace a wooden structure built in 1912 at the same location. It is the only remaining neoclassical structure in downtown and is noted for its dramatic entrance columns. Following Hurricane Andrew in 1992, the congregation built another church, and the building has subsequently served many uses.
