Maumee Bay State Park is a 1,336-acre public recreation area on Lake Erie in northern Ohio, about five miles east of Toledo. Acquired by the state in 1974 and established as a state park in 1975, it was developed from the outset as a broad recreation destination with shoreline access, overnight lodging, and organized outdoor facilities. Its amenities include a lodge and conference center, cottages, camping, a golf course, a nature center, and a two-mile interpretive boardwalk. With activities ranging from hiking and boating to winter sports and geocaching, it remains a major public getaway on Ohio’s Lake Erie coast.
