Hawk's Nest Tunnel is a great tunnel three miles long at the mouth of the New River's five-mile gorge, diverting the river's water; one mile of the tunnel passes through solid rock, and with a fifty-foot dam it creates a waterfall of one hundred sixty feet for electric power.
