Hawks Nest State Park is a 370-acre park near Ansted, West Virginia, perched high above the New River and known for a clifftop overlook along U.S. Route 60 that rises about 750 feet above the water. Its landscape is paired with facilities from different eras, including an original Civilian Conservation Corps building now used as a gift shop and museum and a 31-room lodge added in 1967. The park also offers trails, picnic and swimming areas, a restaurant, a nature center, and the Hawks Nest Rail Trail. Its setting is also linked to the nearby Hawks Nest Tunnel disaster beneath Gauley Mountain, giving the scenic site a deeper historical significance.
