Once called Marshall’s Pillar for Chief Justice John Marshall, who came here in 1812, Hawk’s Nest stands at the New River Canyon, which U.S. engineers declared, at 585 feet deep, surpasses the famed Royal Gorge. A tunnel for the river creates vast water power here.
