British Indian Raid
Military
5
In a countermove in 1780 to control the northwest, British Capt. Henry Bird came from Detroit by river in June with 150 troops and 1000 Indians. From here, they marched south to Ruddle's and Martin's Station and captured 470 settlers. Returning here, they divided the captives and separated families. The British took some to Detroit, and the remainder were scattered among Indian villages.
