Enchantment Peak
Nature
Enchantment Peak is an 8,538-foot granite summit in Washington’s Cascade Range, in the Stuart Range within the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. Rising in The Enchantments, it stands among one of the wilderness’s most rugged landscapes of craggy ridges, granite walls, lakes, and deep glacial valleys, with runoff flowing to Icicle Creek and the Wenatchee River watershed. Its setting reflects the long geologic history of the North Cascades, formed through plate interactions, volcanic activity, terrane assembly about 50 million years ago, and later reshaped by repeated Pleistocene glaciation. The Cascade barrier also governs its climate, bringing heavy winter snowfall, avalanche danger, and clearer summers.
