Commemorating the tercentenary celebration of August 5-7, 1965, the ancient town of Lyme had originally been part of Saybrook and became a new town by the articles of agreement of the Loving Parting on February 13, 1665; it is now the towns of Old Lyme and Lyme and parts of East Lyme and Salem.
