The Red Rock Line
History

The Red Rock Line crossed near this point from north to south. It was established by treaty to define the separation between Indian land and land opened to settlers. Army dragoons patrolled the line from 1842 to 1845 to enforce the treaty. It ran north from Red Rock to a point in Hardin County and south to the Missouri border south of Seymour, Iowa.
