The International Order of Odd Fellows dedicated the building on April 14, 1908, reserving second-floor space beneath a stained glass skylight for their lodge room while trustees rented out the rest. Excessive noise from one tenant, the Star Theater, disrupted lodge work. Although theater owners promised to discontinue the vaudeville acts causing the problem and said piano playing would be the only future disturbance, they could not keep that promise and the theater was evicted. The F.W. Woolworth Co. later signed leases totaling 55 years and vacated in 1975, while the lodge room has remained intact through the years.
