An interurban line was proposed in 1897 between Wayne, Plymouth, and Northville, and it began serving the Newburg area in 1909. The line ran between Wayne and Northville with stops at Newburg and Plymouth, and several types of cars were used on it. Until 1912, the track turned at the corner of Ann Arbor Trail and Newburg, when it was moved to curve behind the A.J. Geer Store to round the curve and prevent car derailments. The D.U.R. went bankrupt in 1925, and service ended in 1927. The waiting room building was originally located on Ann Arbor Trail just west of Newburg in Section 31 and is part of the Newburg Intersection.
