Signal Mountain Wilderness is a protected desert area in Arizona centered on Signal Mountain in the Gila Bend Mountains. Established in 1990 under the Arizona Desert Wilderness Act and managed by the Bureau of Land Management, it includes steep canyons, winding arroyos, and volcanic peaks within the Sonoran Desert. Signal Mountain rises about 1,200 feet to a summit of 2,057 feet, giving the landscape a rugged character despite its modest elevation. Bordering the Woolsey Peak Wilderness to the southeast, the area supports typical Sonoran plants such as palo verde, creosote bush, saguaro cactus, and bursage, along with mule deer, desert bighorn sheep, javelina, bobcats, and mountain lions.
