An American West museum in Craig, Colorado, it was founded in 1964 as the Moffat County Museum to preserve the region’s frontier artifacts and stories and has occupied the former Colorado State Armory since 1991. Its collections center on Old West history and material culture, especially a nationally recognized assemblage of cowboy gear, firearms, and riding equipment. Exhibits also cover mining, ranching, pioneer life, rocks and fossils, and period room settings. Materials tied to Harry Tracy, Ann Bassett, and African American cowboy Isam Dart connect local history to broader western narratives, while the Moffat Road Railroad Display highlights the Denver, Northwestern and Pacific Railway.
