Gros Ventre Wilderness is a federally protected wilderness area in Wyoming within Bridger-Teton National Forest, encompassing most of the Gros Ventre Range and preserved under the standards of the 1964 Wilderness Act. It is managed to remain undeveloped, with no roads, buildings, logging, or mining, and motorized or mechanized travel, including bicycles, prohibited. Recreation is limited to uses compatible with wilderness protection, including permitted camping and fishing and seasonal hunting. Its name comes from French and means "big belly" or "big stomach."
