Ahern State Park is a 128-acre park in Laconia on Lake Winnisquam in New Hampshire’s Lakes Region, open year-round for hiking, biking, fishing, and non-motorized boating. Its roughly 3,500 feet of shoreline is one of its defining features. The land was formerly part of the Laconia State School, which opened in 1903 as the New Hampshire School for Feebleminded Children and closed in 1991. In 1994, the state set aside 128 acres here as Governor’s State Park, and in 1998 the park received its current name.
