Built in 1831 by Martin Taber to accommodate travelers to Buffalo, the North Star Tavern stood on an Indian Trail that later became the Aurora-Buffalo Plank Road. The property was in the Mile Strip, the first part of Elma to be developed from the Buffalo Creek Reservation.
