Saints Peter and Paul Old Catholic Cemetery

Settlement in the Plum area dates to 1869, and the town formally developed in 1889. Czech families began settling there in 1890, and in 1896 they established Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. In 1899, trustees purchased an acre of land from Paul Korenek, and the earliest marked grave, for Rosi Korenek, dates to that year. Tombstones with Czech inscriptions reflect the area's rich heritage, and church members belonged to fraternal and service groups such as the KJT, KJZT, SPJST, Knights of Columbus, and Woodmen of the World. Set against agricultural lands much as it was at its founding, the cemetery links the Plum area to its pioneer life.
