Farwell Barn stands on the former Farwell family farm at the northern edge of the University of Connecticut campus in Storrs. Built around 1870 during Isaac Farwell’s ownership, it is a 19th-century post-and-beam, clapboarded dairy barn that later passed from the Farwells to George Jacobson, then to the Connecticut Agricultural College in 1911. A sheep barn was added after the college acquired the property. Nearby, the Farwell House was destroyed by fire in 1976, but its foundations remain an archaeological site where excavations have uncovered household artifacts. The property is significant for preserving both a historic farm building and evidence of rural family life.
