The Meek property was a working farm with many outbuildings. In the early 1890s, the family built the carriage house for carriages and horses. Across Hampton Road stood a dairy, a barn for storing produce and agricultural equipment, and corrals for shearing sheep. The Meeks also raised racehorses that were kept in a barn elsewhere on the estate.
